The Gil Perez

A renowned Parisian literary magazine, in publication until 1938, took its name from Alain-René Lesage’s iconic character, Gil Blas. Many prominent authors of the time, including Guy de Maupassant, Léon Bloy, and Émile Zola, all contributed to this periodical. The Gil Perez literary journal, named after Gil Blas's uncle, sought to reintroduce literary glory of the past centuries. At Gil Perez, we publish writings with any Realism, Victorian, or 19th-century touch—four pieces per month.
